Since inception in 1960 the Bay Shore Handicap has been contested at a variety of distances: * 8 furlongs : 1960-1963 * 6 furlongs : 1977-1978, 1984, 1994 * 7 furlongs : 1964-1976, 1979-1983, 1985-1992, 1995-present The race was run in two divisions in 1962, 1968, 1975, and 1986.
