Trick

very
handsome
when he
raced past
the
finishing
line in
style. All
through
his racing
career,
Favorite
Trick had
two
trainers –
Patrick B.
Byrne and
William I.
Mott and
interestin
gly he was
ridden by
Pat Day in
all his
races.
Favorite
Trick was
undefeated
when he
was two
year olds
in all his
eight
starts and
was aptly
titled
2007 Horse
of the
Year.
Even, he
posted win
in some
major
races
including
Hopeful
Stakes and
Breeders
Futurity:
the
convincing
win in the
Breeders’
Cup
Juvenile
by setting
up new
record of
1:41.47 is
still
remembered
. Due to
path
breaking
performanc
e in 1997,
Favorite
Trick
clinched
the
Eclipse
Award and
became
first
two-year-o
ld winner
since
Secretaria
t. While
at three,
Favorite
Trick was
allowed to
get
training
from
William I.
Mott and
started
the
session
with a win
in the
7-furlong
Swale
Stakes at
Florida’s
Gulfstream
Park. His
impressive
performanc
e led him
to become
the
betting
favorite
in 1998
Breeders’
Cup Mile
at
Churchill
Down but
surprising
ly he
finished
eighth in
a row of
fourteenth
. Just
after this
unexpected
performanc
e,
Favorite
Trick was
retired
from
Walmac
Internatio
nal and
later was
brought to
Cloverleaf
Farms II
in
Florida.
He was
finally
shifted to
JEH
Stallion
Station
near
Hondo, New
Mexico;
this is
the place
where he
died along
with five
other
horses in
a barn
fire on
June 6,
2006. He
is
remembered
as a
successful
sire of
both
Thoroughbr
eds and
American
Quarter
Horses;
till now
he has
sired
sixteen
stakes
winners.
