Notes: Ginger Punch is a thoroughbr ed filly of the North America origin — she is owned and bred by Frank Stronach and is out of the mare Nappelon and sired by the Canadian-b red Awesome Again. As a sire, she has produced four Breeders’ Cup winners including the 2004 World Champion, Ghostzappe r. She got initial training from the renowned trainer Bobby Frankel and participat ed in Kentucky in May 2006 at Churchill Downs. This is the race, where she posted her first racing win. In the 2007 racing season, Ginger Punch started with a big-bang performanc e; she raced in the Grade II Madison Stakes on the Polytrack surface at Keeneland Race Course and completed second in the seven-furl ong race with jockey Rafael Bejarano. Ginger Punch earned the first stakes win of her career when she snatched a victory in the seven furlong First Flight Handicap at Belmont Park. In the Beldame Stakes, Ginger Punch was the betting favorite and very expectedly finished third. Ginger Punch earned the title of Champion Older Female in the 2007 Eclipse Award. She has her winning streak in seventeen of her twenty starts. In the Grade I Apple Blossom Handicap on April 5th, she completed third to the Grade I winner, Zenyatta. She won the Grade I Ogden Phipps Handicap on June 14th, 2008. She fought Lemon Drop Mom to win the Grade I Personal Ensign Handicap. She is heading towards the 2008 Breeders’ Cup ladies Classic to lead the female purse winner in North America.
