Notes
The Go For Wand Handicap is a thoroughbred horseracing event that is run at a distance of one and one eighth miles on the dirt track of the Belmont Park racetrack. This race is open to fillies and mares age three and up and it offers $250,000. Go For Wand Handicap started in 1954 and is going to be held for the 56th times in 2009. It is a part of the Breeders’ Cup Challenge series; it was decided that the winner of the 2008 Go For Wand Handicap would automatically be qualified for the Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic. Earlier, the name of the race was Maskette Stakes from the Hall of Fame filly, Maskette; the name changed to Go For Wand Handicap for the 1990 winner and Hall of Fame inductee, Go For Wand, in 1992.
