Retama Park History
Retama Park opens for its inaugural season of racing on 7th April 1995. In the next year, it was decided that the training center would remain open even when the track will be closed for live racing. Nearly forty four percent increase in simulcast handling within the next two years helped this racetrack come out of depreciation, amortization and debt. In 1997, simulcast handling again increased by thirty two percent. Within the next two years, a basketball court in the barn area was constructed.Texas Horse Racing Hall of Fame announced 26 individual and horse nominations from the media and the racing industry. The Texas Horse Racing Hall of Fame Inaugural Gala raised over $80,000 for a permanent hall of fame building. On 10th January 2000, Retama Park reunited with Taylor West Advertising, Inc.
