Anthony Stephen: Back in the Saddle Again - Posted on November 19, 2019

By Maryjean Wall Came a day this past autumn when Anthony Stephen unpacked the tack he thought he’d put away forever. Sometimes you just have to do things yourself to get the job done, he was thinking. He believed he could get more out of his own horses if he rode them in races himself. He was right. Rare is the owner/trainer who can leap into the saddle and get winning results. Or any results. Many would quickly hit the ground, having to take the walk of shame back to the rail while someone else caught up with their horse.

By John Furgele Skimming can be dangerous and it’s easy to tell when people elect to skim rather than read. On Facebook, I’ll post a thought, and will get several reactions. A full-length column generates few responses. Our attention spans have eroded mainly because of the smart phone and reading feature articles has become the victim. We read the headlines, believe that to be truth and then react accordingly on social media. So, when the headline read “No Fall Harness Meet at The Meadowlands in 2020,” harness racing fans reacted angrily and vocally. They deduced that the Meadowlands, flush with
