Streaming, the winner of the Grade 1 Hollywood Starlet Stakes last December, has been found to have a bone chip in a knee following a last-place finish in the $200,000 Rachel Alexandra Stakes at Fair Grounds on Saturday.

Trainer Bob Baffert said that the bone chip was diagnosed on Monday, and that Streaming is expected to be out of training for two months. The injury will prevent her from starting in the $1 million Kentucky Oaks at Churchill Downs on May 2.

“She’ll go to Kentucky and have the chip taken out there,” he said. “Usually, it’s like 60 days off. The knee was warm today. We X-rayed her and there was a small little chip in there. It explains her race.”

Streaming finished last of seven as the 3-2 favorite in the Grade 3 Rachel Alexandra, run over 1 1/16 miles. Ridden by Martin Garcia, Streaming led to early stretch before fading from contention. Baffert said he was initially unable to understand the loss until the injury surfaced.

“It was so not her,” Baffert said. “I was in shock with how she ran. Martin said she just quit running.”

Streaming races for breeders John Sikura and Edward McGhee. By Smart Strike, Streaming has won 2 of 4 starts and earned $349,000. Aside from her win in the $500,000 Hollywood Starlet at Hollywood Park, Streaming was second in the Grade 1 Las Virgenes Stakes at Santa Anita on Feb. 1.
