For the fifth time in six career starts, Hear the Chatter made short work of his competition Saturday night in the $68,675 West Virginia Futurity at Charles Town.

And for the third time in a row, One More Time was clearly second-best behind his stablemate.

Hear the Chatter and One More Time are owned by Kristy Petty and trained by John A. Casey. Petty bred Hear the Chatter, and Casey is the breeder of One More Time.

The third-place finisher in the West Virginia Futurity was Too Much to Do, owned, bred, and trained by Casey.

Hear the Chatter went right to the lead in the West Virginia Futurity, a two-turn, seven-furlong race for West Virginia-bred 2-year-olds. He led by a length after a quarter-mile, two lengths after a half, and 2 1/2 lengths after six furlongs. He crossed the wire three lengths in front while being timed in 1:27.26.

Hear the Chatter paid $2.40 as the 1-5 favorite in the five-horse field.

One More Time chased Hear the Chatter throughout and was 11 lengths clear of Too Much to Do at the wire. The trailers were Sassafras Springs and Silver Majesty.

Hear the Chatter, a gelded son of Mass Media out of the Stephen Got Even mare Stefani’s Surprise, is 5 for 6, with one second. He has earned $175,776.
