Stryker Phd wins Muckleshoot Tribal Classic to extend local winning streak

AUBURN, Wash. – Stryker Phd completed a second consecutive unbeaten season Sunday at Emerald Downs with a three-quarter-length victory over Noosito in the $55,500 Muckleshoot Tribal Classic. Since his second-place finish behind Herbie D in the 2013 Longacres Mile, the late-running Stryker Phd has rattled off eight successive stakes victories at Emerald, including four this year for trainer Larry Ross.

Stryker Phd and jockey Leslie Mawing sat closer to the pace than usual in a field of five statebreds, rallied four wide to collar Noosito at the head of the lane and gradually edged away, running 1 1/16 miles 1:40.75, a little more than a second off Kid Katabatic's track record. Stryker Phd paid $2.40. Stryker Phd now is more than halfway to $1 million in earnings – the $30,000 winner's share boosted his career ledger to $515,651 for Jim and Mona Hour of Bellevue, Wash.In other Washington Cup stakes Sunday:

Madam Pele captured the $50,000 Comcast Sportsnet Stakes for fillies and mares, leaving behind seven rivals, including the 3-10 favorite Lady Rosberg, who rallied belatedly to finish third. Madam Pele, who captured a stakes race on the Washington Cup program in 2014 but was winless this year, won by 2 1/4 lengths and paid $10.40. She was ridden by Juan Gutierrez for trainer Jim Penney and owners Kamaaina Thoroughbreds.

Mach One Rules stamped himself as the likely favorite in the season-ending Gottstein Futurity with an easy frontrunning victory in the $50,000 Captain Condo Stakes for 2-year-old colts and geldings. Trained by Frank Lucarelli for Roy and Ellie Schaeffer, Mach One Rules won by 4 3/4 lengths under Leslie Mawing. He blazed six furlongs in 1:08.31.

Redsolocup, the longest shot on the board, held off the fast-closing Absolutely Cool to win the $50,000 Chinook Pass Stakes for older horses at 6 1/2 furlongs. Redsolocup ($49.40) was ridden by Leonel Camacho-Flores for trainer Jeff Metz and owners Warlock Stables.

Invested Prospect ($3.80) set a brisk pace and held on to win the six-furlong Northwest Farms Stakes for 2-year-old fillies. Trained by Blaine Wright for John and Janene Maryanski and Riverbend Farm, Invested Prospect won for the second time in as many starts. Juan Gutierrez was the winning rider.
