Recount probable for Gallant Bob at Parx Racing
September 16, 2015The Illinois-bred Recount, a winner in five of his seven career starts, probably will race next in the $300,000 Gallant Bob on Sept. 19 at Parx Racing, trainer Jim DiVito said.
Recount won the $50,000 Bruce D. Memorial on the Aug. 15 Arlington Million card in his most recent race. The 2014 Arlington-Washington Futurity winner has three wins and a second from four starts this year and will get a chance at easily the biggest purse for which he’s run this season in the Gallant Bob, a six-furlong dash restricted to 3-year-olds. DiVito said jockey Manny Esquivel would retain the mount for the race.
Narrow lead for Valdivia Jose Valdivia Jr. has inched away to a three-win lead, 66-63, over Mitchell Murrill in the Arlington jockey standings. Both riders are spending their first meet at Arlington. Murrill was a five-pound apprentice for about the first two months of the meet but has held his own since losing the bug. Arlington races on Labor Day but then reverts to three-day race weeks, Thursdays through Saturdays, for the remainder of the meet, which concludes Sept. 26.
