Mohaymen favorite after Day 2 of Kentucky Derby Future Wager Pool 2
February 14, 2016After the first two days of betting, Mohaymen was a slight favorite over the mutuel field in Pool 2 of the Kentucky Derby Future Wager.
No individual wagering interest has ever been favored over the field in a February pool since Churchill Downs first began offering pari-mutuel futures in 1999.
Through Saturday night, and on win handle of $186,040, Mohaymen was the 3-1 favorite, followed closely at 7-2 by the field, the 24th or “all others” option. Next are Nyquist (6-1), Mor Spirit (12-1), Brody’s Cause (13-1), Smokey Image (16-1), and Airoforce (16-1). Another $55,465 was bet in exactas.
Pool 2 opened Friday and closes Sunday at 6 p.m. Eastern, Handle typically doubles on the final day of wagering. Combined handle on Pool 2 last year was $448,598, including exactas.
Pool 1, in which the field closed as the 3-5 favorite, ran Nov. 26-29. Pool 3 is set for March 11-13 and Pool 4 for April 1-3. A Kentucky Oaks pool is offered concurrent to Pool 3.
