Lady Eli works for first time since recovering from laminitis
March 2, 2016BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. – The undefeated Lady Eli breezed Monday for the first time since being sidelined with laminitis shortly after her win in the Grade 1 Belmont Oaks Invitational on July 4. We caught her working three furlongs at Palm Meadows in 39 seconds, with her first furlong in 13 seconds. She galloped out four furlongs in 52.20. “She looked great, did it really well,” trainer Chad Brown said. “She switched leads perfectly, galloped out well, and cooled out nicely after the work. “We set goals for her when she arrived on about the first of December, and she hit every one. She’s a remarkable filly.” Brown said he had not determined when Lady Eli would make her return to the races. Lady Eli has won all six of her starts, including the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf in 2014.
