Notes: Alysheba was an American thoroughbr ed racehorse that was sired by Alydar out of the dam Bel Sheba. In 1986, Alysheba started racing in full vigor and posted a place in the Breedersâ Cup Juvenile but lost the Hollywood Futurity in a photo finish. During the Derby session, though he was nearly knocked at the ground, recovered and won the derby in style. After this marvelous win, he came forward with another win in the Preakness Stakes and tried to become American racingâ s twelfth Triple Crown winner in the Belmont Stakes. In the Breedersâ Cup Classic, he eventually faced 1986 Kentucky Derby winner Ferdinand. Alysheba though lost the vote for Horse of the Year to Ferdinand but was named 1987âs Champion Three Year Old. In 1988, when he was only four years old, posted win in the Santa Anita Handicap. In his career, he had participat ed twenty-six races and finished with a classic figure of 11-8-2. In 1993, Alysheba was inducted in the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame. Alysheba was given the service of stud at Laneâs End Farm in Woodford Country, Kentucky until 1999 and was then sold to breeding operation in Saudi Arabia. Desert Waves is one of his notable offspring.
