Beulah Park History

Beulah Park situated in Grove City was established in 1923. It is the first thoroughbred racetrack in Ohio.Throughout the season on selected days Beulah Park offers Quarter Horse racing. However, the celebrated races run in mid October. The racing course is open throughout the week for LIVE for Simulcast Wagering. Off season sees the racing course witnessing fireworks display and concerts.
There are at present three thoroughbred tracks and four harness tracks in the state. Beulah Park was the first Ohio track to offer simulcast wagering on the Kentucky Derby in 1983. The full card simulcasting began in the state of Ohio in 1996. Many records of Darby Downs, the then name of the track, were lost when the owner removed all records in a midnight raid in January 1984. When Charles J. Ruma purchased the track in 1986, he planned to renovate and estimated $12 million dollar was used for this work.

In 1991, Mickey Solomone and Roberto Gonzalez, the two Beulah Park jockeys were made the ‘Jockey Star’ cards. Beulah Park was the first track in Ohio to offer telephone betting on local and national races in 1993. A wireless hotspot access point is added in the upper grandstands to the Starting Gate during the Breeders\\\' Cup in 2004. Beulah Park launched a new wager with online provider WinTicket.com in 2006.
