Bill Mott started training My Assets at 15; registered his first race win at Park Jefferson Racetrack; purchased Kosmic Tour to win the South Dakota Futurity at Park Jefferson; worked for Hall of Fame trainer Jack Van Berg for three successive years and establishe d his own barn in 1978. Mott became the Racing Hall of Fame in 1998 at 45; won Eclipse Awards in 1995 and 1996. Some of his trained horses include Ajina, Cigar, My Typhoon, Gun Salute, Shakespear e, Sweet Symphony, Sand Springs, Escena, Wend, Silver Tree, Ebony Breeze, Silver Whistle, Pommes Frites, Splendid Blended, After Market, Go Between, Taittinger Rose, Old Forester, Union Avenue, Paradise Creek and Theatrical . He received the New York Turf Writers Associatio n Outstandin g Trainer Award for three times (1995, 1996 and 2000).

Bill Mott has remarkable record at Saratoga, where he clinched eight training titles between 1992 and 2005. He captured ten titles at Belmont Park and nine at Gulfstream Park in between. He posted the record of winning 54 stakes at a single Churchill Downs meet during 1984. Mott received the 1996 Turf Publicists of America Big Sport of Turfdom Award.
