Gabriel as a jockey first started riding in 2004 in Panama. He moved to USA in 2006 to become a professional jockey. He was named as the leading apprentice jockey in Delaware Park for 2006. He is a jockey with trainer Larry Jones. His top mounts in 2007 have been Breeders\' Cup Juvenile Fillies contender Proud Spell and New Edition. He won Matron at Belmont Park with Proud Spell and finished second with New Edition in Lake Placid. He also won Delaware Park\'s White Clay Creek with Proud Spell and Denise Rhudy Stakes with New Edition. Gabriel Saez guided Proud Spell to a dominating five-length victory in the 2008 Kentucky Oaks (G1) and Eight Belles to a second-place finish in 2008 Kentucky Derby.
