The 1999 session was a great start for him with two Breeders' Cup races, bagged horse riding titles at Gulf Stream Park, Hialeah and Calder and then moved to the New York circuit. He was a leading rider at New York and became the leading jockey in Aqueduct and Belmont. He set a record for the most wins on a New York Racing Association Card and made a six day win at Gulf Stream Park. Chavez won the 2000 Mike Venezia award and the 2001 Kentucky Derby held at Monarchos. After he spent a year at the Southern California Circuit, he came back to New York in July, 2007. |
