He is married to the daughter of a blood stock agent Shawn Dugan, Lita.

He is an American thoroughbr ed horse race trainer. He started his career training show horses and then worked with John Hartigan at Tartan Farms in Ocala, Florida. He also worked in Argentina and Venezuela. On his return to the US he worked as an assistant to Roger Laurin for two years and between 1970-74 he was an assistant to Charlie Whittingha m in California . In 1983 he began training horsews individual ly. He has won a total of 31 Breeders̢ ۪ Cup runners and six winners titles. In 1992 he was voted for Eclipse Award for Horse of the Year. Drysdale was inducted into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in 2000.
