Ramon Dominguez is a jockey, who races in the US thoroughbred horseracing circuit and started his career only at 16 in his country Venezuela. Though his father did not agree with his idea of starting a career in horseracing, Ramon looked forward to learn the art of riding at his own country farm. Actually, he started to learn show jumping but within a year he shifted to a nearby training center to learn ride horses. After getting his initial breaks in racing within his country, he immigrated to the United States and began riding at Floridaâs Hialeah Park Race Track in 1996. Between 2001 and 2003, he was at the top of the list in the jockeyâs list in the United States and clinched the 2004 Isaac Murphy Award. In the 2006 Kentucky Derby, Dominguez raced with Bluegrass Cat and finished second after Barbaro. He has ridden five winners from eight mounts at Aqueduct Racetrack between March 2006 and January 2007.
