He is an American trainer for thoroughbr ed horse racing. Due to his performanc es he was inducted into the US Racing Hall of Fame. He started his career at an early age. Later on he became assistant to Lefty Nickerson and then took up the job for Texas horseman Roger Braugh in the year 1974. Just a couple of years later Mandella opened his own stable. In the years 1996-98 he had six straight wins in Southern California . He was inducted into racing Hall of Fame in the year 2001. In 2004 he had four winners in the Breeders̢ ۪ Cup.
