Notes: Saint Liam was a popular thoroughbr ed racehorse that was voted the 2005 Eclipse Award Horse of the Year honor. He was sired by Saint Ballado and was out of the dam Quiet Dance. He did not participat e in horseracin g at two, which is regarded as the actual age for starting. He had a stunning debut at three and earned the second place in the Iowa Derby. Saint Liam was trained by Richard E. Dutrow, Jr. all through his racing career. Owned by Mr and Mrs William K Warren Jr, he posted a win in the Grade II Clark Handicap. In 2005, Saint Liam captured four graded stakes races including the Donn Handicap, the Stephen Foster Handicap and the Woodward Stakes. He became champion in the Grade I Whitney Handicap and in the last race, jockey Jerry Bailey rode to victory in the Breedersâ Cup Classic. Only after that, he was retired with a record performanc e of 9-6-1 in 20 races compiling career earnings of $4,456,995 million. Saint Liam was standing at stud at Laneâs End Farm in Kentucky and died after suffering a lot.
