Notes:
Hubert ‘Sonnyà ¢€™ Hine is a famous American thoroughbr ed racehorse trainer, who is best known for 1998 US Horse of the Year, Skip Away. His father, Arthur Hine, was the son of a clothing merchant. Well before his career in horse training, he used to ride with his brother, Marvin. At the beginning of his career in his high school, he started his career as trainer and joined the United States Air Force. He attended Yale University for a year thereafter and posted his first remarkable win with Skip Away in the 1997 Breedersâ €™ Cup Classic at Hollywood Park Racetrack. In the next year, he snatched stunning victories in the Donn Handicap, the Gulfstream Park Handicap, the Pimlico Special, the Mass ‘Cap, the Hollywood Gold Cup, the Iselin and the Woodward Stakes. On that racing season, he captured the Eclipse Award for Horse of the Year and made a historic landmark. Unfortunat ely, the epitome of his career spanned only a few years – he was attacked by cancer and struggled three long years before his death on March 17, 2000. He was honored posthumous ly and was inducted into the US National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in 2003.
