Peter Klesaris, his father, was a famous thoroughbred trainer of New York during his days. Steve and his elder brother Robert got inspiration of becoming a trainer right from their father.

Notes:
Racing Operation: Klesaris saddled his first winner, Stronger, at age 18. He started assisting his brother, Robert, in training horses at Garden State Park. He rode Passing Ships to victory in the 1990 Kings Cup in Saudi Arabia. Both of them worked for Richard Millipore and Herb McCauley from 1992-95. Klesaris came back to the trainers' ranks in September 1995. He earned success upon his return, winning the 1995 Hawthorne Gold Cup and Gallant Fox Handicap with Yourmissin thepoint. He saddled New York Stallion Series winner Accurate in 2004, as well as Delaware-b ased multiple-s takes winner Misty Sixes. Klesaris stable races actively in New York and Delaware Park and it is based at Fair Hill Training Center in Maryland. Klesaris will be making his first appearance in a Breeders' Cup championsh ip race as an owner or trainer.
