Notes:
Stewart Elliott began his career in 1981 at Keystone Park. He has a phenomenal record at old Atlantic City Race Course. He was a frequent rider at Suffolk Downs, Rockingham, the Maryland tracks, Delaware and Monmouth Park. Jackâs Ruby brought him $108 in his careerâs first win. Elliott suffered a lot with weight gain, got addicted to unhealthy drugs and alcohol and spent a short time in jail followed by rehab for alcohol dependency. He earned the reputation for winning the most number of races at Philadelphia Park. He achieved the landmark of topping three consecutive seasons (2002-2004) in the same racetrack. He completed his 3000th race win on 13th May 2003. He became the first jockey to snatch a winning title in the Kentucky Derby and his horse, Smarty Jones, is the first unbeaten Derby winner since 1977 Seattle Slew. Only after two weeks, Elliott rode Smarty Jones to a path-breaking victory in the second jewel of the US Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing, the Preakness Stakes. While in the third leg of the Triple Crown, the Belmont Stakes, Elliotâs Smarty Jones could not post the winning title.
