Tim Ritchey is a popular thoroughbr ed racehorse trainer, who is best known as the trainer of Afleet Alex that earned victories in the 2005 American Classic Races, the Preakness and Belmont Stakes. Tim was born and brought up on 21st May 1951 in his hometown Pittsburgh , Pennsylvan ia. At eighteen, he attended the Potamac Horse Center and gained his riding education and spent more than eleven years in training horses with the United States Olympic Equestrian Team for the Munich games. He is the five time leading trainer at Delawara Park in 1992, 1993, 1994, 1996 and 2001. Ritchey has finished 13th consecutiv e year and finished in the top of the Delaware Park trainers̢ ۪ standings. He is ranked 49th nationally in 2002 and 56th nationally in 2003. Presently, his stable includes forty-five horses at the track and races every year in Delaware, Arkansas, Maryland and Pennsylvan ia. He married Janet Wood, who was born and brought up in the English countrysid e. They live along with their two sons, Christophe r and Benjamin, at Lebanon, Pennsylvan ia.
