His father is known as the âMagician on Turfâ in Japan â he is a former jockey cum trainer. Yutakaâs younger brother, Koshiro is also a jockey. Notes: Starting his career at Hanshin Race Course on March 1, 1987, Yutaka Take registered his first winning title in six days interval. After posting several wining titles in the Japan-horseracing-circuit, Yutaka sailed to participate in thoroughbred racing in various international fields including at Hollywood Park. He has planned staying in the US for the next couple of seasons. Within his short and eventful racing career, he has already experienced racing in France, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Dubai, Germany and England. Though he finished fourteenth in 1995 racing tally, he is the only Japanese jockey to participate in the Kentucky Derby so far. With setting up a record for first-year riders in his homeland totaling sixty-nine victories, he became a champion apprentice in Japan that year. He is the first Japanese jockey to win consecutive Japanâs Derby â 1998 and 99. In the 2001 Dubai Sheema Classic he rode Stay Gold to ensure victory over the most promising contender â Frankie Dettori. Yutaka was in France where he rode as a freelance mainly for John Hammond. During the 2001 summer racing, he broke his wrist and could not return in the horseracing circuit before the early September. He has also raced in England, Ireland and spent chilling winter in Scotland at Ayr racecourse in September 2001. It was in 2005, when Yutaka Take made a landmark by winning the Japanese Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing with Deep Impact; this is the second undefeated horse that has won the classic title in style. At the Chukyo Racecourse, Yutaka clinched the Takamatsunomiya Kinen riding Suzuka Phoenix and the win help Take a Group One victory for the 20th consecutive racing season. |
